Users review: What a year it has been for animated films. Right now in 2010 we had three wonderful films from three rival study. DreamWorks kicked off with a surprise sleeper hit How to Train Your Dragon and animation juggernaut Pixar countered with high expected Toy Story 3. Universal Lighting Entertainment today released the audaciously titled Despicable Me and while it may be the worst of the trio, is certainly the most purely entertaining.The strengths of Despicable Me lie within the veins commonly seen in film animation, but his voice was just using it very effectively. Includes 3-D to jump on the bandwagon (my theater will screen the normal size), proud of Despicable Me amazing voice cast, a ploy first used with Robin Williams back in the days of traditional days animation in Aladdin, superbly executed slapstick and what I will call the factor shoulder. What is beautiful or funny, you'd be hard pressed to find a film medium that does not use this tactic. Although called arthouse animated pictures like WALL-E follows the trend (in fact, that particular film contains two of the supporting characters) and Despicable Me ups the ante and take thousands.The opponent Gru ( I voiced Steve Carell) operates his evil lair with the help of a small crew of workers yellow adorable, and together with them awwwee factor, is the subject of a healthy portion of slapstick in above. Located in easy laughter is still enough heart and if you are inclined to do so, you may very well shed one or two tears. This heat is generated by three orphan girls, Margo, Edith and Agnes doe eyes, but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself more. Have you ever wanted All Crane is to receive, and what better way to achieve this goal with supervillainy. After a fresh faced rival villain Vector (Jason Segel) outdoes Gru by stealing a pyramid of Egypt, devises a plan to get a shrink-ray from a government test facility and to use such technology to decrease, and then steal the moon. These things do not go according to plan after Vector steals the shrink ray right out of thin Grus clutches. What a supervillain to do? Define another level, of course, this time with the three aforementioned orphan to get away with Vectors lair by selling cookies. All very complicated in writing, but it works very well in screen.Steve Carell a wonderful job in the role of lead singer and helps us to forget his Russian accent, is an A-list star located behind the animation. Russell Brand gives an indistinguishable performance as Dr. Nefario, the brains behind the operation Grus, and Kristen Wiig is hilarious as the head of the orphanage. The most disappointing is certainly the great Jason Segel whose underwritten character fails him as he makes his voice. Half the beauty of Segel is his physical presence and to be neutered in a voice-only role. While the physical humor will no doubt please the children, perhaps even more so for the adults and if a movie is able to make me double over the island, so it must be doing something the right. Shrek Forever After becoming a misstep for this medium, I am looking forward to the rest of the year with enthusiasm.
